Reports reaching KNO that a joint team of army’s 34 RR and SOG cordoned off Gahind area of shopian after having credible input about the presence of some militants in the area. As the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter. A senior Police official confirmed that exchange of firing is on between militants and government in the area. 2 to 3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
